What’s the difference between a lumen and a watt? Our new Science of the Outdoors infographic shines a light on the subject.
A lumen is a unit of measurement that gauges the total quantity of light emitted in all directions by a light source. (Watts, traditionally featured on the packaging of conventional household lightbulbs, measure how much energy a light uses.)
In most cases, the higher the lumens, the brighter the light. Lenses and reflectors, however, can impact how lumens are utilized.
