Investing in the Next Generation of Outdoor Stewards

We’re committed to expanding access to inspirational places. So this year we’re investing $1M in the 21st Century Conservation Service Corps (21CSC). We will support projects in 19 national parks working with young people – including underserved high school and college students, inner-city youth and multicultural groups – to protect, restore and enhance national parks throughout the country.

These young stewards will help revitalize some of the nation’s most iconic and inspiring places, building and maintaining trail access to help visitors go deeper.

The projects will give them experiences that can help them transform their own lives through education and employment. Creating a new generation of future conservation leaders. Who knows where their trails might lead?

    Great initiative REI! Love to see that you’re getting young people involved in preserving and maintaining our many amazing parks.

    Very proud of this initiative. The original CCCs brought a world of good to so many. I see their beautiful bridges along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The return on investment includes this wonderful infrastructure, a large payback in income taxes from the men who were able to take their skills and turn them into a lifetime of employment, and all the coattails that followed. This project may not be adding long lasting infrastructure, but the lasting effects will be profound for a good number of these kids, and the coattails will pick up others along the way. Glad to be part of a great co-op community.
